Bisher wurde angenommen, daß die Grabeskirche in Jerusalem als Vorbild für unser Kirchlein diente. Ein Blick auf die Grundrisse beider Gotteshäuser widerlegt diese Theorie sofort. Up to now it was assumed that the Church
of the Holy Grave was the pattern for our churchlet. A view at the floorplan rebuts this theory. Abb. nicht maßstabsgerecht!

Jerusalem (2996 km Luftlinie von Ludorf) ist offenbar nicht ganz verkehrt,
denn in der Nähe der Grabeskirche steht der Felsendom. Und dieser ist in der Tat achteckig. Nachweislich residierten die Templer im 12. Jahrhundert im, oder in der Nähe des Doms, was unseren Ritter Wipert von Morin (wenn er denn Kreuzfahrer war) zum Bau einer ebenfalls achteckigen Kirche inspiriert haben mag. Beweise gibt es jedoch (noch) nicht. Jerusalem (in a distance of 2996 km from Ludorf) doesn't appear to be totally wrong
because not far from the Church of the Holy Grave there is the Dome of the Rock. And it indeed has an octagonal floorplan. As a matter of fact the templars resided in, or at least near to the Dome which might have inspired our knight Wipert von Morin (if he should really have taken part in a crusade) to contruct an octagonal church.
